😈 Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal Orlando: Everything We Know So Far

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet.

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 marks the 35th anniversary of Universal Orlando’s premier Halloween event. To celebrate, Universal is bringing back two (2) of the event’s most iconic characters, Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow, as part of this year’s Infernal Carnival of Nightmares theme.

Throughout the event, guests can expect anniversary nods, expanded HHN lore, new haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, and plenty of surprises as Universal celebrates 35 years of screams.

Below, we’ll track every officially announced house, scare zone, show, ticket update, and major piece of HHN35 news as it’s revealed.

Running from August 28, 2026, through November 1, 2026, with Premium Scream Nights on August 27 and October 19, this year’s event features haunted houses, scare zones, live shows, and a whole lot of terrifying fun.

🧟‍♂️ What Is Halloween Horror Nights?

Halloween Horror Nights is Universal Orlando’s premier Halloween event held on select nights every fall. It transforms Universal Studios Florida into a terrifying, immersive experience after dark. Guests walk through elaborately themed haunted houses based on horror movies, TV shows, and original concepts.

Scare zones filled with roaming monsters take over the streets between attractions. Live shows, specialty food, and merchandise complete the spooky, adult-oriented experience.

We’ve rounded up everything officially announced so far, and will keep updating this guide as new details drop.

🪦 HHN Features in 2026

🫥 Stay & Scream

While Universal has not yet announced details for HHN35, we fully expect some version of Stay & Scream to return in 2026.

For years, Stay & Scream allowed guests already inside Universal Studios Florida to access select haunted houses before the official start of Halloween Horror Nights. However, the experience often involved spending significant time waiting inside crowded holding areas.

That changed in 2025.

Instead of being confined to a holding area, guests could pick up a wristband beginning at 3PM and then continue enjoying the park until haunted houses began opening. Depending on the house, early access sometimes started well before the official 6:30PM event opening.

We used this strategy during HHN34 and were shocked by how well it worked.

Our Experience

After entering Universal Studios Florida during the afternoon, we picked up our Stay & Scream credentials and secured a reservation at Lombard’s Seafood Grille. We enjoyed Lombard’s picturesque scene for about an hour before taking on the park.

And that’s where things got interesting.

Between roughly 5PM and 6:30PM, Universal Studios Florida felt almost empty. We rode Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts multiple times with no wait. As the only ones on the ride so many times, we started to wonder if the cart was too light with just two (2) people. 🙈😬

We wandered through Diagon Alley with hardly anyone around, and captured photos that would normally be impossible during regular operating hours. For the first time in over a decade, we finally grabbed ice cream from Florean Fortescue’s without fighting a crowd.

10/10. No notes.

If Universal brings back a similar Stay & Scream system for HHN35, we would absolutely use it again.

Universal typically announces Stay & Scream procedures, wristband locations, participating restaurants, and early access house details closer to the start of the event. We’ll update this guide as soon as HHN35 information becomes available.

📿 The Deathly Afraid Necklace

An Unlocked child wearing the new Deathly Afraid Necklace
An Unlocked child wearing the new Deathly Afraid Necklace

Universal Orlando introduced a new feature last year for HHN 2025. We will update this section as soon as we know whether it will be back for 2026. The Deathly Afraid necklace is new option for purchase at select locations that guests will wear like a lanyard throughout the event.

The Deathly Afraid necklace/lanyard offers a new way to manage the scares while attending Halloween Horror Nights. Guests who wear the necklace signal scare actors to approach with less intensity. It does not remove scares completely and does not work inside haunted houses. However, it functions in scare zones throughout the park and reduces the level of interaction. This option helps guests who want to enjoy the event without the full force of jump scares.

Families with younger visitors and those sensitive to fear may find it especially valuable. The necklace makes HHN more accessible while preserving the atmosphere of the event.

😱 Universal Horror Unleashed Is Coming to the Midwest

Universal’s horror ambitions are going full throttle! After launching the first Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas on August 14, 2025—a 110,000 ft², year‑round, walk‑through haunt at AREA15 featuring four immersive houses based on Universal Monsters, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist: Believer, and Scarecrow: The Reaping—the experience is set to expand to the Midwest.

On June 26, 2025, Universal announced plans for a second location. Universal Horror Unleashed: Chicago will occupy a 114,000 ft² former industrial site at 700 W. Chicago Ave., along the River West corridor. With construction slated to begin in early 2026 and the grand opening expected in 2027, the venue will feature “terrifying mazes, themed bars, unique food and beverage offerings, and retail with exclusive merchandise.” The project will generate hundreds of jobs and an estimated $1 billion in economic impact.

🎡 2026 Theme: Infernal Carnival of Nightmares

The overall theme for Halloween Horror Nights 35 is Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, which immediately tells us this is going to be an icon heavy year. Universal has confirmed that Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow will serve as co-headliners for the event, with the carnival theme weaving throughout houses, scare zones, and other event elements.

Anniversary years often lean heavily into HHN history and mythology, and this appears to be Universal’s way of celebrating 35 years of Horror Nights while still creating something new.

🎃 2026 Confirmed Haunted Houses

🎪 1. Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control (Original)

The first announced original haunted house for HHN35 is Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control. Rather than simply bringing back two fan favorite icons, Universal is using the house to expand the event’s mythology by exploring the origins of their rivalry and eventual partnership.

According to Universal’s creative team, the house will tell the story largely through Dr. Oddfellow’s perspective and introduce new lore surrounding the “Oddverse,” a concept that could potentially connect years of HHN mythology together. For longtime fans, this looks like required reading. For newer guests, it appears to be the gateway into this year’s larger story.

Expect callbacks to HHN history, elaborate carnival sets, and plenty of fan service for longtime event attendees. As the anniversary house for HHN35, this is likely to be one of the event’s signature experiences.

🧛🏿‍♂️ 2. Sinners: Club Juke

The first announced intellectual property (IP) house for HHN35 is Sinners, based on Ryan Coogler’s critically acclaimed vampire film. Guests will enter Club Juke and find themselves caught between Smoke and Stack’s world and the bloodthirsty vampires threatening to overrun it.

The movie’s atmosphere already feels tailor-made for HHN, which makes this one of the more natural IP pairings Universal has announced in recent years. We are especially interested to see how Universal handles the music, environment, and escalating tension that made the film so effective. On paper, this feels like a very strong fit for the event.

We don’t like HHN and even we’re excited about this. Sinners was a masterpiece. Club Juke as a haunted house? Chef’s kiss. No notes.

👺 3. Stranger Things 5

The world of Hawkins returns to Halloween Horror Nights for HHN35. This year, the haunted house is based on Season 5 of the hit Netflix series, placing guests in the middle of the show’s final battle against Vecna and the Upside Down.

Along the way, you’ll encounter familiar locations, iconic characters, and some of the series’ most terrifying creatures brought to life. If previous Stranger Things houses are any indication, expect detailed sets, impressive effects, and one of the most popular houses of the event.

🩸 4. H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular! (Original)

One of Halloween Horror Nights’ most recognizable original characters returns for HHN35. This haunted house throws you into a twisted Halloween television special hosted by H.R. Bloodengutz, where every “segment” becomes bloodier than the last.

Along the way, you’ll encounter monsters, murderous performers, and plenty of over-the-top practical effects. If you enjoy campy horror mixed with classic Halloween Horror Nights humor, this should be one of the event’s most entertaining originals.

🍖 5. MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals (Original)

The world has collapsed, and the survivors have become something even more dangerous. In MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, rival tribes stalk a post-apocalyptic wasteland while embracing the instincts of the animals they once kept behind bars.

As you make your way through the ruins, you’ll become the next target. Expect aggressive scares, gruesome sets, and one of the year’s most intense original concepts.

🤖 6. Cybergoria (Original)

Technology has conquered death—but the result is far from paradise. Set thousands of years in the future, Cybergoria follows a civilization where machines refuse to let humanity die, no matter the cost.

You’ll navigate frozen industrial corridors filled with cybernetic experiments and horrifying mechanical creations. The blend of science fiction and body horror makes this one of HHN35’s most unique original houses.

👽 7. INVASION: Alien Abduction

A quiet farmhouse becomes the center of an extraterrestrial nightmare. As alien invaders descend from the skies, you’ll race through barns, fields, and laboratories while trying to escape becoming their next experiment.

Rather than leaning into campy UFO stories, INVASION: Alien Abduction embraces suspense, creepy imagery, and classic sci-fi horror. Fans of alien encounters should have this house near the top of their list.

🔥 8. HELLRAISER

One of horror’s most iconic franchises is finally coming to Halloween Horror Nights. Inspired by the original Hellraiser trilogy, this haunted house will lead guests through unforgettable locations from the films as they encounter Pinhead and the terrifying Cenobites. The experience begins when you open the infamous Lament Configuration puzzle box, unleashing horrors from another dimension.

This marks the first time Hellraiser has been featured as a haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights, making it one of the biggest IP announcements of HHN35. Fans can also look forward to hearing original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley reprise his role by providing the voice of Pinhead throughout the attraction.

Street experiences were a brand new addition to Halloween Horror Nights 34. We will update this space if and when new Scare Experiences are announced for HHN35.

They’re different from scare zones but don’t replace them. These experiences feature roaming scare actors, custom lighting, and immersive sound design. Unlike fixed scare zones, they’re more fluid and performance driven.

Another option: Stay & Scream, which allows early access to the houses from inside the park before general entry begins (with the right ticket combo).

🧟 What is Stay & Scream and how has it changed for HHN 2026?

Stay & Scream is your VIP ticket into Halloween Horror Nights before the official scare fest begins—no more waiting outside! What is new in 2026? Hopefully nothing. Universal Orlando completely overhauled the experience in 2025. We expect the new system to stay in place in 2026 because it went off without a hitch in 2025. Here’s how the new system works:

How It Works Now
Wristband pick-up starts at 3:00PM
, at convenient locations like Lombard’s Seafood GrillMinion Café, or Villain-Con Minion Blast. Wristbands validate your early access.
Roam the entire park freely. Gone are the days of standing in cramped holding areas—now you can explore, grab food, shop merch, or even hit a ride before the night kicks off.
Early access to haunted houses begins before the official 6:30PM start. Popular houses may open as early as 4:00PM or 5:15PM—giving Stay & Scream guests the first jump on entry.

Why This Upgrade Is a Game-Changer
No more crowds in holding areas
—you’re already out there, exploring and enjoying the park.
More efficient use of time—shop merch, fuel up, or even tackle attractions before the nightmares begin.
Strategic advantage—hit the most popular haunted houses early to save precious minutes (or hours) later.

Pro Tips for HHN 2026 Stay & Scream
Arrive before 3PM
to secure your wristband and enjoy the extra hours.
Scout your must hit houses ahead of time and plan to take them down during this early window.
Eat and shop early—the merch and food lines during the actual event can get wild.
Treat it like the ultimate pre-party—no waiting, just immersive, strategic fun before the main event.

🧠 Pro Tips for First Timers

Arrive early—lines start forming well before gates open.
Start in the back of the park to avoid the initial crowd surge.
Eat before you arrive or plan on eating in non-peak hours.
Go on a weekday if you want a less crowded experience.
Stay hydrated, especially on hot nights.

Conclusion

Halloween Horror Nights is a must do for horror fans, thrill seekers, and anyone looking for a totally different experience at Universal. It’s not for the faint of heart—or for very young children—but if you love spooky season, it’s one of the most iconic Halloween events in the world.
