DISCLAIMER: If you have a serious allergy, dietary restriction, or autoimmune disease, you likely already know this, but no restaurant will ever guarantee a completely safe dining experience. Nor should they. Cross-contact is always a possibility, however remote. You have to measure your own risk so that you feel safe. And Universal Unlocked is not suggesting—and will never suggest—otherwise.
IMPORTANT: While the chefs at Universal Orlando are generally excellent across the board, restaurants change chefs all the time. Never assume that one experience (or my experience) will be like the rest. Always cycle through your safe steps, just to be sure.
Please keep all this in mind as you read on about restaurants I both love and find safe.

Gluten Free at Universal Orlando Theme Parks
1. Three Broomsticks™ in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Hogsmeade™ (Islands of Adventure)
- Options: ⭐⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Three Broomsticks™ is the main restaurant venue at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Hogsmeade™, located in Islands of Adventure. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you will find it wonderfully immersive. Like you stepped into the books. It’s also one of the most allergen friendly restaurants at the parks. It lists all allergen information on its main menu (not every restaurant does). The Three Broomsticks used to be a counter order venue, but like many other Universal Orlando restaurants has moved to mobile order only.
UNLOCKED TIP: You need to download the official Universal Orlando app for mobile ordering. Read more about the app and dietary accommodations in our 2025 Ultimate Planning Guide.
This freaked me out at first because it seemed to take out the important step of speaking to someone in person about your food allergy. But it doesn’t. There is an option when you’re checking out on the app to add an allergy notice to your cart. When you do that and submit your order, someone will come out to speak to you about safe meal preparation. Read more about mobile ordering here.

Also, very important, always remember that every type of butterbeer (except the fudge) is gluten free, including the original, frozen, hot, ice cream, and potted cream varieties. (Also, recently the Wizarding World has started taking the cream off the top of butterbeer as a dairy free option.) Most drink options in the Wizarding World are offered everywhere drinks are sold. And many of them are gluten free, including gillywater, pumpkin juice, and apple cider.

I don’t often do a full sit-down meal in the Wizarding World, mainly just because there are so many gluten free dining options at the resort that I prefer to this one. Many times though we head to the Three Broomsticks for an extended break from walking around. They have a patio in the back with a view of the lagoon and VelociCoaster. The Universal Unlocked children would drink butterbeer and watch that coaster run all day if I let them. They’re little weirdos, what can I say.

I usually get fries, which are prepared in a separate fryer. They also have a yummy baked potato and awesome roasted potatoes. And they are delicious. They do have options besides potatoes though.
The most popular gluten free offering at the Three Broomsticks is the Great Feast, which is a giant platter of meat, potatoes, and veggies that serves four. You have to forego the barbeque sauce to make it gluten free. We have brought our own before.
Nothing on the breakfast menu is specifically designated gluten free, but just ask them when you’re there. They will make you something for breakfast. They also have fruit bowls and salads if that’s what you’re looking for.
If you want your Wizarding World experience to include a meal straight out of the Harry Potter books, you will find plenty of options at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade.

2. Leaky Cauldron™ in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Diagon Alley™ (Universal Studios Florida)
- Options: ⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Leaky Cauldron™ is the main restaurant venue at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Diagon Alley™, located in Universal Studios Florida. It is just as wonderfully immersive as its Three Broomsticks Hogsmeade counterpart. It is a very similar gluten free experience and has a very similar allergy protocol to the Three Broomsticks 👆👆 but with a slightly different menu.
Like the Three Broomsticks, the Leaky Cauldron has moved to mobile ordering only. And like the Three Broomsticks, it also offers most drinks available throughout the Wizarding World.

For whatever reason we usually spend less time here than at the Three Broomsticks, but they have great fries that are prepared in a separate fryer as well (no other potato options though). They also offer safe preparation with gluten free buns, and many celiacs love the chicken sandwich.
As with the Three Broomsticks, nothing on the breakfast menu is specifically designated gluten free, but just ask them when you’re there. As with the Three Broomsticks, they will make you something for breakfast.
3. Finnegan’s Bar and Grill™ in New York, Universal Studios Florida
- Options: ⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Finnegan’s Bar and Grill™ is located in the New York area of Universal Studios Florida directly across from Revenge of the Mummy™. Read our ultimate ride ranking to understand why this means we spend a ton of time here. ☕☕☕☕
This full-service, sit-down dining option features a large dining room and a long bar. While there are not a lot of gluten free options, the staff immediately comes across as very knowledgeable about celiac safety (servers, managers, and bartenders).
The burgers are safely prepared and my favorite across the entire resort. The bar menu has a ton of options, many of which can be made gluten free.

Despite the lack of variety in its gluten free options, Finnegan’s is my favorite restaurant at the parks for a few reasons. It is too large inside to ever get truly crowded, and it’s also always blasting air conditioning. A welcome respite from the Orlando heat.
The bar is long and has great barstools. (When you’re ranking bar stools should you start to question your life choices? Asking for me, Laney.) The bar offers the full restaurant menu. You can take drinks to go, and there are little nooks to grab a drink and cool off instead of sitting down for a full meal.

UNLOCKED TIP: Duck into Finnegan’s for a break and use their bathroom. It’s cleaner and cooler than any park bathroom.
Finnegan’s has a great Irish pub vibe, a community atmosphere, and at times, live music. (Use the live music information as a tip or a warning, at your leisure.)

4. Green Eggs and Ham™ Cafe in Seuss Landing, Islands of Adventure
- Options: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Green Eggs and Ham™ Cafe, located at Seuss Landing in Islands of Adventure, is the cutest of all eateries. The whole place is shaped like a giant green ham with a fork sticking out of it. If you’re into Seussian things, this will totally be your vibe.

It is an outdoor counter service restaurant with picnic tables for dining. The menu is very small—only six (6) main items, but four (4) of them can be made gluten free. Every menu item is tots, and we love the green eggs and ham tots and the pizza tots.
The service gets a ding here because the gluten free prep, while excellent, takes for freaking ever. And while taking a long time for your order to come out is usually a sign of careful prep, if you get the right kitchen staff at Green Eggs and Ham, it can take fifteen (15) or twenty (20) minutes. We still love it though.
If you need a quick(ish) gluten free snack while you’re at Islands of Adventure, head here.

Gluten Free at Universal CityWalk Orlando
5. Jimmy Buffett’s® Margaritaville® at Universal CityWalk Orlando
- Options: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Depending on the iteration, Margaritaville either has a full gluten free menu or gluten free items marked on the full menu. Make sure to ask what else they can prepare gluten free though because it is a lot of things. And the kitchen staff is well trained. The servers and bartenders are also well trained. They will whip out their little allergy worksheet and double check that you don’t have other allergies that the food might contain.

Our favorite menu items are the Volcano Nachos and the Pineapple Chimichurri Grilled Chicken. The nachos are usually served with chili, which is not gluten free. But they can sub chicken tinga or black beans, which are both solid gluten free options. And the chips are safe.
UNLOCKED TIP: The Volcano Nachos are not usually marked gluten free on the menu. But ask about them anyway.
The dining room and bar at Margaritaville Orlando are always boisterous and fun, complete with Jimmy singing on the screen. But I find the patio (the Porch of Indecision, which has its own entrance) at Margaritaville in CityWalk Orlando to be one of the most relaxing places in the resort. Especially when you need a break from the parks.

It has heaters, fans, and rain windows, coming prepared for any type of Orlando weather. It’s also a great spot to post up and people watch or take in great river views. Even if you can’t eat anything, stop in for a rest and drink.

6. Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food™ at Universal CityWalk Orlando
- Options: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have eaten at Antojitos probably around fifty (50) times over the years, and I’ve never had a bad experience. Except the barstools, which are terrible. You’re just trying to sit on a 12”x12” square. I hate it. The venue is huge, has an upstairs, and often features live music (Again. Tip? Warning? Your call.)
UNLOCKED TIP: Make a reservation for Antojitos through the official Universal app so you can be seated immediately. It opens at either 3PM or 4PM each day and is sometimes closed one day a week. Limited hours and popularity can sometimes make the wait quite long.
As with most Mexican food places, many things are made with corn tortillas and don’t strongly feature gluten. Unlike most Mexican places though, Antojitos cross contact protocol is superb.
When you explain a severe allergy or intolerance, you will be closely watched by your server and visited more than once by both the manager and the head chef. If you order bar drinks, which are excellent, you will also get a visit from the bartender. And they are all well trained.

They currently fry all chips in the upstairs separate fryer, so all chips and dips are safe, including the world’s best tableside guacamole. Double check this every time you go because it has changed at times over the years. (The chip safety, not the guacamole. That has always been the best on the planet.)
We will sometimes get stuck on the excellent queso fundido (a Universal Unlocked favorite), but they also have amazing nachos, esquites (similar to elote), soups, salads, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, and did we mention the guacamole?

Antojitos is one of my favorite restaurants at the resort. The drinks are great, the food is great, and they can accommodate any allergy. And as a personal favor to me, I would like you to go purely to learn about and agree with me that this restaurant makes the actual best guacamole on the planet.

7. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen™ at Universal CityWalk Orlando
- Options: ⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen™ is one of two restaurants at CityWalk Orlando located across the river on the park side. (The other is the Hard Rock Cafe.) It comprises both a chocolate emporium and a savory feast kitchen. (I know, the name is a little on the nose.) Try to make a reservation here. It can get really crowded.
UNLOCKED TIP: Toothsome is mainly famous for its absurd shakes, which unfortunately are not gluten free. I wouldn’t let that deter you from experiencing the restaurant though. It’s gigantic, has multiple floors, and has a killer steampunk theme throughout. And the savory food is delicious.
This is one of the Universal Orlando gluten free dining options that denotes very little on the menu, which is bigger than the Cheesecake Factory menu I’m not kidding. But the chefs at Toothsome are so amazing that they will go out of their way to make you a meal that you can eat. Even if it’s not on the menu. Don’t avoid this place because it seems too allergy unfriendly. After you talk to the chefs you will feel reassured.
I once had a chef literally create a wine reduction sauce from scratch for me because I couldn’t eat the sauce that normally accompanied the steak I wanted.

Gluten Free at Universal Orlando On-Site Hotels
8. BICE Ristorante at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel
- Options: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

BICE continues to compete with Antojitos as my favorite restaurant across all of Universal Orlando. It is the most “proper” restaurant at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, and the only one located above (and not on) the Harbor Piazza. It has a dress code, which doesn’t allow beachwear. I usually put on a cute maxi dress for it. It is only open for dinner service.

Its location above the harbor provides excellent views of the hotel bay. They have an excellent patio, but it rains a lot so don’t necessarily count on that. The interior is beautifully done and probably the most formal you’ll find at Universal Orlando.
The staff is well trained and extremely friendly. The chef will always come out to speak with you, and the manager will check on you more than once.
The food is classic Italian, and gluten free options are marked on the menu. The pasta dishes aren’t marked, but almost every pasta dish can be made gluten free. They also have a risotto of the day that is almost always gluten free.

They have an excellent caprese burrata salad. (If I’m remembering correctly every Portofino Bay restaurant has its own version of caprese salad.) And—maybe my favorite BICE feature—they have a gluten free version of the standard Italian restaurant bread and oil appetizer.
The carne section of the menu is 99% gluten free, and features amazing beef, chicken, lamb, and more. Most sides are gluten free, including lots of veggie and potato options.

Last, but not at all least, over half the dessert menu is gluten free.
Before I went to BICE as a celiac, I was sure my Italian restaurant days were over. Turns out they are alive and well.

9. Trattoria del Porto™ at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel
- Options: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Trattoria del Porto™ is the main all day dining option at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. It’s located on the Harbor Piazza and has a newly constructed patio where you can sit, eat, and watch all the harbor happenings.

During breakfast there is a buffet, but you don’t have to eat from it. Mention that you have celiac disease to your server, and you’ll immediately be met with the same care and attention as anywhere else at Universal Orlando. The chef will prefer to prepare your food separately from the buffet. They make excellent omelets, breakfast potatoes, and gluten free pancakes.

Lunch and dinner are typical sit-down, full-service affairs. The attention to protocol and training is just as excellent as at breakfast. We love the fries and the caprese salad.

10. Amatista Cookhouse at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort
- Options: ⭐⭐⭐
- Training: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amatista Cookhouse is the main sit-down, full-service dining option at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. It is very good about listing gluten free (and other allergy) options on the menu, but I would still always check what is gluten free with the chef.
I love this place because the dining room is large and comfortable. It has very clean lines, which makes it serene to me. It also has the best barstools across the entire resort, and you know I have a running list. We’re not listing it in this guide, but the Drhum Club Kantine pool bar at Sapphire Falls also has amazing bar stools.

In case you’re getting genuinely worried, the main reason I know a lot about the bar stools is because I go to Universal Orlando alone a lot. And everyone knows it’s okay to be alone at the bar. (It is also very okay to eat at a table alone. Or anywhere else alone. Don’t get it twisted.)

Amatista is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there are good gluten free options at all three services. We love the rotisserie chicken, the pear salad, and the pink beans and rice.
