Beginnings

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ at Universal Orlando Resort is an immersive, multi-park experience that transports guests into J.K. Rowling’s beloved series through stunning recreations of its most iconic locations.

Originally opened in 2010 with Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, the Wizarding World continued to expand in 2014 with the debut of Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida. Connected by the Hogwarts Express, these two lands bring the books and films to life with stunning detail, from the towering Hogwarts Castle to the bustling magic of Gringotts Bank.

This themed area’s success revolutionized theme park design, leading to cutting-edge attractions like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts—all of which blend storytelling with groundbreaking ride technology.

In its biggest expansion in over a decade, Universal Orlando added a brand new Wizarding World in 2025 at EPIC Universe. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, is largely themed by JK Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films, and everything is set in 1920s Paris. However, guests will be transported to the British Ministry of Magic to help convict Delores Umbridge of high crimes on the Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry attraction. And expansions to the newest Wizarding World are already in the works in 2026.
