Universal Orlando’s Terra Luna Resort Review (2026)

Exterior of Terra Luna Resort on the south campus of Universal Orlando
Exterior of Terra Luna Resort on the south campus of Universal Orlando

Terra Luna Resort is one of Universal Orlando’s newest on site hotels and one of the closest hotels to EPIC Universe. These hotels have become popular budget options for guests who want an EPIC Universe focused trip. However, Terra Luna is less popular than its sister hotel, Stella Nova. Read on to find out what we thought about this resort in our Terra Luna Resort review and guide.

BOTTOM LINE: Terra Luna lacks Stella Nova’s biggest selling point—its direct walking path to EPIC Universe. As such, Terra Luna brings the “Surfside quiet vibe” if you will, while Stella Nova brings the “Dockside busy vibe.” If budget friendly and short shuttle ride to EPIC Universe is at the top of your priorities, this is a good choice. If not, we have better recommendations for you in Universal’s on site hotel line up.

Overview: What Is Terra Luna Resort?

Universal Orlando’s Terra Luna Resort opened on March 25, 2025, becoming the second (2nd) hotel in Universal’s new south campus expansion surrounding EPIC Universe.

At first glance, both Terra Luna and Stella Nova make a fantastic impression. The exterior is stunning. The massive reflective glass facade stands out from every other hotel at Universal Orlando and fits perfectly with each hotel’s (and EPIC Universe’s) celestial theme.

However, while its sister hotel, Stella Nova, has a huge selling point in its direct walking path to EPIC Universe, Terra Luna Resort relies entirely on shuttle transportation. In 2025 this feature alone was already presenting occupancy problems for the new hotel.

Like Stella Nova, Terra Luna is a fairly simple hotel. Unlike many other Universal Orlando on site hotels, there are no suites. Guest accommodations consist entirely of standard rooms. Amenities are also limited compared to other Universal hotels in a similar price range.

Atmosphere

Main lobby at Terra Luna Resort
Main lobby at Terra Luna Resort

Rather than beating around the bush, we’re just going to call Terra Luna what we felt it was—minimalist. The pure white rounded edges of the interior are just lacking something for us. Terra Luna is also, as we mentioned above, extremely quiet and has trouble keeping occupancy rates up. So much so that hours of amenities have been reduced at times.

Even the lobby bar did not liven up the place at night. It’s just a minimalist, quiet place. (So is Stella Nova, for what it’s worth.) If quiet and minimalist is your vibe, go book it! But to us it seemed a strange choice for a theme park hotel.

Main Lobby

Main lobby at Terra Luna Resort
Main lobby at Terra Luna Resort

The main lobby houses the check in desks, Universal Vacation Planning Center, lobby bar, market and counter service dining, and guest services.

The design is sleek, bright, and extremely modern. Nearly everything is white, curved, smooth, or illuminated. Whether you find that minimalist or sterile will probably come down to personal preference. For us, Terra Luna feels more like a very nice convention hotel that happens to have a space theme.

One thing longtime Loews guests may notice immediately is that the signature Loews lobby scent is nowhere to be found. This may sound like a small detail, but returning guests know exactly what we’re talking about.

Holidays at Terra Luna Resort

Like every other Universal Orlando on site hotel, Terra Luna Resort thoughtfully decorates for the holidays in November and December. Most on site hotels are also getting into the Halloween Horror Nights spirit in September and October.

While the holiday displays are not as elaborate as some of the premier hotels, the south campus did a nice job last year bringing festive energy into the public spaces. It’s one of those little touches that reminds you Universal treats even its budget hotels as part of the overall vacation experience rather than simply a place to sleep.

Should You Stay at Terra Luna Resort?

Terra Luna Resort has spent most of its first year living in the shadow of its sister hotel, Stella Nova. The reason is simple.

Many guests planning EPIC Universe-focused vacations want to stay as close to the park as possible, and Stella Nova offers something Terra Luna does not: a dedicated walking path to EPIC Universe. For many guests, that feature alone is worth paying extra. For everyone else, Terra Luna becomes a much more interesting conversation.

As the novelty of EPIC Universe continues to wear off, we suspect more guests will begin comparing Terra Luna not just to Stella Nova, but to Universal’s other budget hotels. When that happens, value becomes the deciding factor.

The EPIC Universe budget sister hotels draw obvious comparisons to the north campus budget sister hotels, the Endless Summer Resorts. We will mention them throughout our reviews of each of these south campus hotels.

Pros and Cons

Pool area at Terra Luna Resort
Pool area at Terra Luna Resort

Pros

Lower Price Than Stella Nova

If you’re already planning to take the shuttle to EPIC Universe, Terra Luna lets you save a little money over Stella Nova without giving up much else.

Exclusive Theme Park Benefits

Like every Universal Orlando on site hotel, Terra Luna guests receive Early Park Admission and complimentary transportation throughout the resort. We are huge believers in staying on site because these perks save time, simplify logistics, and help maximize your vacation. Read more on Universal on site hotel exclusive benefits below.

Proximity to EPIC Universe

Even without Stella Nova’s walking path, Terra Luna is still one of the closest hotels to EPIC Universe.

The shuttle ride is short, reliable, and dedicated to the south campus. If your vacation revolves around EPIC Universe, you’ll still spend very little time traveling.

Brand New

Terra Luna opened in 2025 and still feels brand new. Everything is fresh, clean, and modern. Whether you love the minimalist design style or not, there is something nice about staying in a hotel where everything still feels new.

Lobby Bar

Each of these budget hotels has a sleek, convenient lobby bar, and it’s part of why these hotels are classified as “Prime Value” instead of simply “Value.”

Cons

No Walking Path

This is Terra Luna’s biggest disadvantage.

Unlike Stella Nova, you cannot simply walk over to EPIC Universe. Every trip to the park requires using the resort shuttle.

Entrance and parking lot of Terra Luna Resort
Entrance and parking lot of Terra Luna Resort
Distance from the Main Campus

The further Universal Orlando expands, the more noticeable this becomes. If your vacation includes Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, CityWalk, and Volcano Bay, you’re going to spend a fair amount of time on shuttle buses.

For guests planning a full Universal Orlando vacation, we think the north campus hotels remain much more convenient.

Small Scale Amenities

For the price, Terra Luna feels surprisingly limited. The market is small. The retail shop is small. The public spaces are relatively small. While the hotel looks beautiful, there simply isn’t as much here as you will find at many of Universal’s older hotels.

No Suites

Unlike many other Universal Orlando hotels, Terra Luna does not offer suites. For couples and smaller travel parties, this probably won’t matter. For larger families, however, it removes one of the biggest advantages found at hotels like Surfside, Dockside, Cabana Bay, Sapphire Falls, and the premier resorts.

Terra Luna Resort Price Comparison

Terra Luna Resort
Intro gear at Terra Luna Resort

Terra Luna is listed in Universal Orlando’s “Prime Value” category. The only other hotels in this category are Stella Nova Resort—Terra Luna’s sister hotel—and Aventura Hotel, another modern, minimalist property. The comparison is interesting.

At Aventura, you can walk to Sapphire Falls and use the water taxi. At Stella Nova, you can walk directly to EPIC Universe. Terra Luna has neither. Instead, its biggest advantage is price.

Let’s look at some numbers.

The Terra Luna Numbers: Is It Worth It?

Budget hotel prices for July 2026 (lowest rate):

  • Aventura Hotel: $225
  • Stella Nova Resort: $223
  • Cabana Bay Beach Resort: $227
  • Terra Luna Resort: $207
  • Surfside Inn and Suites: $199
  • Dockside Inn and Suites: $186

RELATED: Click here to read why the annual passholder hotel discount alone makes it worth having one.

Use those numbers as a reference point for the discussion below.

Cabana Bay has two (2) pools, a lazy river, hot tubs, pool cabanas, sand beaches, water slides, a Starbucks, two (2) pool bar and restaurant combos, a huge cafeteria, a bowling alley and restaurant, a lobby bar, an ice cream shop, pizza delivery, and multiple room options including suites.

Dockside has a lobby bar, two (2) pool bars, two (2) pools, sand beaches, hot tubs, pool games, a Starbucks, a huge cafeteria, a grab and go market, pizza delivery, and multiple room options including suites.

Surfside has a pool, a pool bar, a cafeteria and grab and go market, a lakeside walking path, a Starbucks, and multiple room options including suites.

Aventura has a rooftop bar, cafeteria, grab and go market, Starbucks, a lobby bar, and multiple room options including suites.

Stella Nova has a walking path to EPIC Universe, a pool, a pool bar, a walk up restaurant, a grab and go market, a lobby bar, and standard guest rooms.

Terra Luna Resort has a pool, a pool bar, a grab and go market, a counter service restaurant, a lobby bar, and standard guest rooms.

We’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

For us, the entire value proposition comes down to one question: is Stella Nova’s walking path worth roughly $15 to $20 more per night?

If the answer is “yes,” book Stella Nova.

If the answer is “no,” Terra Luna becomes the better buy.

Express Pass

Do not stay here and buy Universal Express Unlimited for everyone in your party. If you plan to buy Express Passes, stay at a premier resort. They pay for themselves.

This is one of the biggest mistakes we see guests make when planning a Universal Orlando vacation. They focus on saving money on the hotel room and then spend thousands purchasing separately what the premier hotels include for free.

The Unlimited Express Pass can run you up to $350 per day, per person. And depending on your party size, that will add up quickly. If you have four (4) people in two (2) rooms, buying the Unlimited Universal Express Pass for three (3) days can set you back more than $4,000.

Exclusive Universal Orlando On Site Perks

Terra Luna Resort
Terra Luna Resort

There are both pros and cons to Terra Luna park benefits. While these new south campus budget options give guests access to the amazing exclusive perks available at every hotel, they do not include the perks that you would get with some Signature Collection hotels.

RELATED: Click here to discover the exclusive benefits at each Universal Orlando on site hotel in our 2026 Universal Orlando Planning guide.

Benefits at Every Universal On Site Hotel

As a hotel in Universal Orlando’s Prime Value tier, Terra Luna Resort includes every basic on site hotel exclusive benefit, including:

  • Early Park Admission: Access to select attractions at Universal Orlando theme parks up to an hour early with valid theme park admission.
  • Complimentary Transportation: Shuttle buses provide convenient access to all Universal Orlando theme parks and Universal CityWalk Orlando.
  • Resort-Wide Charging Privileges: Guests can use their room key for purchases throughout Universal Orlando Resort.
  • Complimentary Merchandise Delivery: Have purchases from any and all Universal Orlando Resort stores delivered directly to your hotel room. You can shop at any time during you trip and not worry about lugging your merch around. (Easily our personal favorite Universal Orlando on site feature!)

UNLOCKED TIP: Packages will usually show up in your room the day after your purchase. Make sure you leave enough time for your stuff to reach your suitcase before your departure.

  • Universal Studios Store: Like every on site hotel, Terra Luna Resort has a Universal Orlando merch shop. They’re great for picking up last minute souvenirs before you catch your flight, or for grabbing last minute necessities before you go to the parks. As we mention below, the Terra Luna store is small and unimpressive.
  • Universal Vacation Planning Center: Each on site hotel has its own on site Vacation Planning Center where you can pick up your park tickets from your vacation package and purchase any other Universal Orlando tickets and passes, or make any reservations, you need.

Exclusive Theme Park Benefits: What’s Missing?

While Terra Luna Resort offers the same exclusive park benefits as every budget hotel offering at Universal Orlando, it is missing some premier benefits.

Benefits Exclusive to Premier Resorts

  • Universal Express Pass Unlimited: Premier level resorts include an unlimited express pass to use at the parks. Skip the lines, every time. Skip up here to read some hard numbers on its value.
  • Water Taxi Service: Every premier tier hotel at Universal Orlando (plus Sapphire Falls Resort) sits along the Universal river and offers relaxing water taxi service that drops you conveniently very close to the entrances to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. For south campus hotels, the only way to get to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida is via the shuttle that services Universal budget hotels.
  • Priority Seating at Resort Restaurants: Show your room key at restaurants across the resort and skip the walk in guest line.

Because Terra Luna Resort is not a premier level resort, it does not offer any of these benefits.

Travel and Terra Luna Resort

Travel to Terra Luna Resort

Arrival at Terra Luna Resort
Arrival at Terra Luna Resort

Whether you bring your own vehicle, rent a TURO or AVIS vehicle, use a rideshare service, or book the Universal Orlando official shuttle, just pull up to the circle entrance of the hotel, and the hotel team members will take care of you.

Unlike many of the other on site hotels, arrival at Terra Luna Resort tends to be pretty straightforward. There are no sprawling resort grounds to navigate and no mystery elevator systems to decode. You pull up, check in, and start your vacation.

The check in area itself can be a little confusing the first time you arrive. The queue setup is not as intuitive as many other Universal Orlando hotels, and we found ourselves briefly wondering (and wandering … 👈🏼 sorry for this grammar nerd joke) where exactly the line was supposed to start.

If you bring a vehicle to the hotel (rented or otherwise), you have two (2) options, self parking and valet. The prices are:

Self parking: $30 per day.

If you are not staying at the hotel but want to park there for the day, the prices are (30 minutes complimentary):

Self parking: $65 per day.

You’re going to experience similar guest parking fees at every on site hotel, and it’s frankly why we try to avoid bringing a car to Universal Orlando if at all possible. Once you’re on property, Universal does a pretty good job moving you around without one.

Travel to and from the Parks

The Universal Orlando Resort shuttle bus will take you to EPIC Universe, as well as Volcano Bay water park and CityWalk Orlando. From CityWalk, you will enter the north campus parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

The bus will drop you off at the shuttle depot near the main Universal Orlando parking lot. From there, you can take the bridge to CityWalk Orlando and the north campus parks. The Volcano Bay shuttle will drop you at the Volcano Bay bus depot. The EPIC Universe shuttle will drop you at the EPIC Universe shuttle depot.

The biggest downside to Terra Luna isn’t getting to EPIC Universe. It’s getting everywhere else.

If your vacation includes Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, CityWalk, and Volcano Bay, you’re going to spend a fair amount of time on shuttle buses traveling between the south and north campuses.

Terra Luna Resort Accommodations

Like Stella Nova, Terra Luna offers just one (1) standard guest room type.

Unlike many other Universal Orlando hotels, there are no family suites, themed kids suites, hospitality suites, or luxury suite upgrades. What you see in these pictures is what you get.

Standard Room

The standard (and only) rooms at Terra Luna are similar in size to most Universal Orlando on site hotel rooms. Like its sister hotel, Terra Luna skips the carpet in favor of hard flooring and leans heavily into a clean, minimalist design.

The biggest difference between the two sister hotels is the color palette. Stella Nova embraces cool blues and celestial artwork, while Terra Luna is built around shades of green and earth tones. Which one you prefer will come down entirely to personal taste.

UNLOCKED TIP: The hotel touts its modern technology, but during our stay we couldn’t get several of the tech features—including the TV casting—to work properly. Shoot us an email if you’ve had a different experience. We’d genuinely love to know whether this has improved.

Closet in a Terra Luna Resort guest room
Closet in a Terra Luna Resort guest room

One design feature we genuinely liked was the hidden closet area. Secret-looking doors are always cool.

During our stay, we also noticed more hallway noise than we’ve experienced at several other Universal Orlando hotels. That could have been our room location, but it’s something worth mentioning if you’re a particularly light sleeper.

There was also damage to the hotel room, which was less than six (6) months old at the time.

UNLOCKED TIP: Ask guest services (via text service) for an extra blanket because the bedding is very thin.

No Suites

The south campus budget hotels are the only on site hotels at Universal Orlando without a suite option.

This is a bigger deal than it might sound. One of the reasons Surfside and Dockside have become so popular is that families can book affordable suites that sleep six (6) people. Terra Luna removes that option entirely.

For couples and smaller travel parties, this probably won’t matter. For larger families, however, it means booking multiple rooms or looking elsewhere on property.

Given the prices Terra Luna often commands, we were surprised Universal chose not to include even a limited suite inventory.

Dining at Terra Luna Resort

Terra Luna (like Stella Nova) offers a counter service cafeteria, a grab and go market, a lobby bar, a walk up counter service poolside venue, and a poolside bar.

Every budget hotel at Universal has this grab and go / cafeteria combo restaurant. The difference at Terra Luna is that the food is ordered at counters rather than served cafeteria style.

As for grab and go, you can grab water, soft drinks, beer, and wine there. Quick grab food options include chips, candy, cereal, bars, and other packaged snacks. It also houses some of the hotel’s Coke Freestyle machines (the other is at Moonrise). There are tables to eat there, or you can take it with you.

RELATED: Click here to read about Coke Freestyle and so much more Universal Orlando tips and tricks in our 2026 FAQ.

You can buy your Coke Freestyle mug (if you want one) at the hotel and avoid having to search one out in the parks.

UNLOCKED TIP: If you have purchased a Coke Freestyle mug, you can definitely use it here, but don’t forget that you can also just use the machines to fill up water bottles instead of purchasing expensive bottled water over and over. Buy one or two bottles and fill them up here.

Market

Surprisingly, we preferred Terra Luna’s market over Stella Nova’s.

Neither is particularly large, especially compared to Universal’s older hotels, but Terra Luna offered a noticeably better selection during our visit, including a dedicated gluten free section that Stella Nova lacked.

That said, we still think both south campus markets leave something to be desired. They’re perfectly adequate for grabbing a drink or snack, but they don’t come close to the excellent grab and go markets found at hotels like Sapphire Falls or Endless Summer.

Cafe

Like Stella Nova, the seating area is functional but basic. Think workplace cafeteria rather than resort dining venue. Our service experience at Terra Luna was more mixed.

Some interactions felt rushed, and unlike Stella Nova, we didn’t always receive the same level of confidence when discussing food allergies. As always, individual experiences can vary depending on who is working that day.

The surprise, however, was the poolside counter service. We expected very little and ended up pleasantly surprised. The food quality was better than anticipated, making it one of the brighter spots in Terra Luna’s dining lineup.

During our second (2nd) visit, however, Moonrise operated on reduced hours and wasn’t always open. A team member told us this was tied to lower occupancy at the time. Current operating hours appear to have expanded since our stay, so your experience may be different.

Dietary Accommodations at Terra Luna Resort

RELATED: Click here to get our gluten free at Universal Orlando series that covers every single dining venue at Universal Orlando.

Most of Terra Luna Resort takes the same approach to allergen safe dining as the rest of Universal Orlando Resort. The minute you mention a food restriction to the cafeteria, they are on top of it. Protocols for safe meal preparation are in place and well practiced.

While our experience at the poolside venue was stronger than Stella Nova’s, service throughout the resort varied more than we’ve come to expect from Universal. Your experience will likely depend on who is working during your visit.

Amenities at Terra Luna Resort

Universal Studios Store

Universal Studios Store at Terra Luna Resort
Universal Studios Store at Terra Luna Resort

Every hotel has a Universal merch shop. Terra Luna’s is located off the main lobby. These stores have last minute items like sunglasses, sunscreen, meds, umbrellas, ponchos, etc. They also have limited merch from every land.

Like Stella Nova, we found the Terra Luna store surprisingly small. Forgetting a necessity? You’ll be fine. Looking to do some serious souvenir shopping? We’d wait until we got to the parks. The selection is limited compared to most other Universal Orlando hotel shops.

UNLOCKED TIP: Don’t look for North Campus merch at these shops. South campus stores are only stocking south campus IP merch. You can, however, find south campus IP on the north campus.

Pool at Terra Luna Resort

The pool area includes a small(ish) zero entry pool, a kids’ splash pad, outdoor games, a relaxing hot tub, fire pit, and poolside movies (weather permitting).

Like much of Terra Luna, the pool area is clean, modern, and visually appealing. The mosaic tile work continues throughout the outdoor spaces and helps tie the hotel’s lunar theme together.

That said, we never found ourselves particularly drawn to this pool area. It’s perfectly pleasant. It just lacks some of the personality and energy we find ourselves gravitating toward at places like Cabana Bay, Surfside, or Dockside.

Video Game Arcade

Every Universal Orlando on site hotel has their own version of a video arcade. It’s just a normal game arcade. But if you or your kids love video game arcades, it might be right up your alley!

Fitness Center

The fitness center is relatively large for a hotel gym and well stocked. There are treadmills, bicycles, ellipticals, a free weight area, and a weight machine area. We’d rather get our workouts at the parks, but to each their own!

Convenience Amenities

Luggage Storage

Luggage storage at Terra Luna Resort
Luggage storage at Terra Luna Resort

This one is important. Don’t waste a day of your trip sitting around waiting for your check in or check out time. Store your luggage and spend that time exploring the resort. This is especially important if you booked a Universal Orlando vacation package. Because your tickets will be valid the day of arrival and the day of departure.

Laundry Service

The hotel has coin operated self service washers and dryers.

Texting Service

Example of Universal Orlando text service at Terra Luna Resort
Example of Universal Orlando text service at Terra Luna Resort

This is hardly new anymore as many hotels across the world employ it, but Terra Luna has a texting service that you can use instead of calling the front desk. They will send you a welcome text when you check in, and after that if you need anything or have any problems, just text the chain. It’s very helpful and convenient.

Universal Vacation Planning Center

Universal Orando Vacation Planning Center at Terra Luna Resort
Universal Orando Vacation Planning Center at Terra Luna Resort

Every Universal Orlando on site hotel has a Universal Vacation Planning Center. Terra Luna’s is located near the check in desk in the main lobby. The planning centers are important because it’s where you pick up your park tickets from your vacation package. They also have any and all other park needs covered. You can buy any other passes there, including special event tickets like Halloween Horror Nights.

Amazon Delivery/Door Dash/Instacart

Before and during the pandemic, you could reliably have packages, groceries, and food delivered to any on site hotel. This is still true in some cases, but the past couple years we have found that these services are spotty at best. Try it at your own risk.

Terra Luna Resort fills a very specific role in Universal Orlando’s hotel lineup. If your priority is staying close to EPIC Universe while spending a little less than Stella Nova, it does exactly what it’s designed to do. The shuttle is reliable, the rooms are clean, and you still receive all the core perks that come with staying at a Universal Orlando on site hotel.

That said, we think the value conversation is impossible to ignore.

For us, the biggest question isn’t whether Terra Luna is a good hotel. It’s whether these south campus budget hotels should cost more than Universal’s established value resorts on the north campus. At their current prices, we’d choose Surfside or Dockside almost every time.

If you’re planning an EPIC Universe-heavy vacation and don’t mind relying on the shuttle, Terra Luna is absolutely worth considering. If your trip includes all four theme parks—or you’re simply looking for the best overall value at Universal Orlando Resort—we think there are stronger options elsewhere in the lineup.

Either way, we hope this guide helped you decide whether Terra Luna Resort is the right fit for your vacation.
